Wicker Chairs on front patio

Last year, John and I saw these wicker chairs at a garage sale. We paid $10 for the two chairs plus 4 cushions!! What a buy. I spray painted them to freshen them up and washed the removeable cushion covers and they look like new. They are oh so comfortable.

Keep going and you'll see the front yard.

front yard

I planted snow on the mountain to spread around the chinese elm tree; also some yarrow, which looks fern like until the flowers shoot up later in the summer.

Heading west again

I'm gonna go out to Colorado to stay with Phyllis again. Am leaving May 22nd and will be gone til the 1st of June. I'll be there for her last chemo treatment. Keep those cards and letters coming in--she is really depressed since they took her off her antidepressant. They put her on another drug, but it is just not doing the trick. She needs our continual prayers. Hopefully, my visit will give her something to look forward to and perk her up a little.

Later in June, Mom and I will go out, when she has her surgery and starts her radiation therapy. Will let you know the dates as soon as I hear from Phyllis about when they schedule her.

John and I are hoping to get down to Florida in July for a week or two. Will let you know when we get firm dates.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Posted by Picasa

Our most recent "visitor"

Well, I looked out the kitchen window this morning and saw a bird I didn't recognize feeding on our sunflower feeder. I looked it up and it was a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Never saw one before, but guess it is a large finch. If it comes back, I'll try to get a picture and post it. Looks like it is indigenous in Canada and the upper eastern U.S. (I'll be an ornithologist before you know it) Never thought I'd be a birdwatcher!! Guess that's part of being retired--time to smell the roses... and watch the birds.

WHERE'D THEY ALL COME FROM?....and where'd they all go??

You'll never believe what we saw this morning. We were at the kitchen table having breakfast, watching the birds and the squirrels through our large kitchen windows, when I noticed a Blue Jay for the first time this year. Then another one flew in. First thing you know, they were flying in by twos, until I counted 16 feeding on the ground!!!! I ran and got my camera, but when I opened the back door--off they flew. They haven't come back. Guess next time, I'll have to settle for taking a picture through the window. I was hoping to share this sight with all of you. Oh well...

Aubree has a baby brother

Guy and Jill had an 8lb. 12 oz. bouncing baby boy today by C-section. They named him Kyle Philip (today is Grandpa (Philip) Caron's 86th birthday, had he lived. What a tribute. Can't wait til they put some pics on fotki.com. Mother and baby are doing well. Aubree is recovering from a nasty "bug".
