Colorado or Bust
I am leaving for Colorado at 5pm today--barring anymore unforeseen problems. I feel much better about this trip than if I had gone last week as previously planned. ( Knowing that the cancer has not spread--instead of not knowing the results of the tests the better part of my trip--plus not being able to stay long enough to be with Phyllis when her port is placed and chemo begins...) The Holy Spirit knows what He is doing--what is best for us--and makes everything work out as it should. I am also relieved that John will not have Louis 24/7 with no relief while I am gone. He can really wear on a person, talking incessantly.

Thanks Be to God
After all the tests this week, Phyllis met with her oncologist Friday eve. The good news is that the cancer has not spread to any other part of her body!!! There was a hot spot on her thyroid which they will biopsy. She gets her port-a-cath put in on Tuesday and starts Chemo on Wednesday. I fly out there tomorrow and will stay 8 days. I'll keep you posted.
Louis' Status
Louis spent Monday thru Friday in the hospital in PCU with a head injury from his collapse, heart and blood pressure problems and extreme confusion and hallucinations. They had to move him to a room across from the nurses' station so they could keep an eye on him and had him restrained the entire time he was there. He was then transferred to a nursing home on the rehab unit--we don't know how long he'll be there--whether it is temporary or permanent. He is not a happy camper. He got beligerant his first night and kicked several of the staff out--saying "get the f--- out of my house", refused to get up and get dressed, go to breakfast or to lunch. After we got there, we gave him a good talking to and insisted he get up and dressed and have lunch--he reluctantly and argumentatively did so. Today he was better--but wants to come home now. This past week has been emotionally and physically exhausting. Glad he is in a safe place for now. We can't watch him day and night or we would never get any sleep. We are taking one day at a time--don't know what the future will bring.

Colorado Temporarily on Back Burner
Monday, the day I was to leave for Colorado, John's dad collapsed onto the floor and was non-responsive. We called 911 and they took him to Community Hosp. North (since Community East--just a few blocks from home--was on diversion--no beds). They admitted him after some testing--found a small bleed on his brain, perhaps from the fall. His blood pressure shot up dangerously high--so he is in PCU on a monitor--had a nitro drip overnight--now he is completely confused and talking non stop day and night--has had no sleep. Once we get him back home and reoriented, I'll make plans to fly out to be with Phyllis. She is having her port-a-cath put in next Tuesday and they hope to start chemo if there is no adverse reaction between her antidepressant and the chemotherapeutic drugs. I hope to be there for that. Will keep you posted.

Off to Colorado
I leave for Colorado Monday, February 5th, to spend a week with Phyllis, going with her to her tests and any doctors' appts., giving her love and support and helping her any way I can. We'll be doing some investigating regarding treatment options, etc. Pray for me so that I can be what she needs this coming week.
